"All the things I wish I had been told about Ivy League College Applications as a high school freshman. Really, really useful advice!" -John H., MI

MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR

College admission is as competative as ever, especially for the Ivy Leagues. Getting into a school like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Dartmouth, MIT, Brown or Columbia is no easy task especially as applicants increase year over year and acceptance rates drop. With Tips on Getting Into Harvard you'll learn my story on how I made sure that my application was unique and interesting. My goal is to help you get into Harvard (or any other college, for that matter).

Thanks,
David Lokshin

QUESTIONS

How early should I start thinking about college?

If you are a freshman or sophomore in high school, it's definitely not too early to start preparing for your college application, especially if you are applying to the Ivy Leagues. Are you a junior in high school? Then you should definitely be thinking about it. The truth of the matter is that college admissions officers want to hear a story about who you are, what makes you interesting. This story takes time to develop, and the sooner you start, the better your chances of doing something they'll really be impressed with.

I'm a parent. Should I get involved in my child's application? Will this book be useful for me?

Yes this book is for you, and yes you should definitely get involved! Applying to college is a long and difficult process and your child will definitely bennifit from all the help you can give. Make sure to motivate them during their SAT prep, help them brainstorm the best teachers to ask for recomendations, think of topics that your child can write about for their personal essays, and enjoy the fruits of your labor when the acceptance letters arrive!

Was Harvard worth it?

Yes. Without a doubt, yes. I would do my four years over in a heart beat. The education was incredible, but that wasn't even the best part. The experiences you have, the people you meet, and the doors that Harvard opens make it an absolutely incredible place.
